The South African Baseball Union will host a golf day on Thursday, 30 May at the Milnerton Golf Club to raise funds for their upcoming tour.
The team has qualified to participate in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) u-15 World Cup 2024, which will take place in Barranquilla, Colombia, from 16 to 25 August.
“Therefore, we are reaching out to you for support in the form of taking a 4ball, a corporate wet hole or any kind contribution of prizes towards the day in the form of water for the golfers, prizes for prize giving, auction items, raffles that would assist our team to make this day a great success,” says Helga Teixeira, general secretary of the South African Baseball Union.
The squad consists of 20 dedicated players and five committed coaches, all of whom have been training tirelessly to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.“Representing our country on the international stage is a dream come true for our talented young athletes, but it also comes with significant financial challenges. As is often the case with sports in South Africa, our team is entirely self-funded, with players coming from diverse backgrounds and facing various personal circumstances,” Teixeira says.
Expenses
The expense per player/coach is budgeted at R50 000 each. This includes flights, visas, accommodation, uniforms, and transport. All tours are self-funded by the players, parents and local communities.“Your generous sponsorship would not only alleviate the financial burden on our team members but also provide them with the opportunity to focus entirely on their performance and represent our country with pride and excellence,” ” says Teixeira. “By supporting our team, you will not only be investing in the future of South African baseball but also making a meaningful impact on the lives of these young athletes, empowering them to pursue their dreams and aspirations.”For more information, email tamlynbt@icloud.com or visit their crowdfunding page.
