The Kuils River Cougars Masters women’s team showcased their talent and determination by finishing third at the Softball South Africa (SSA) International Softball Masters Tournament, held from 20 to 23 September at Pacaltsdorp Sports Field in George.
The tournament brought together teams from Lesotho, Botswana, and South Africa, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition among seasoned players. The Cougars, boasting strong teamwork and strategic play, entered the tournament with high hopes.
The club’s spokesperson, Danielle Lewis, said the team displayed resilience throughout the tournament.
“Their journey to a third-place finish included a series of intense matches that tested their skills and mental fortitude.
“Key players stepped up, delivering standout performances that kept the team competitive. The semi-final match presented a formidable challenge, as the Cougars faced off against a top-seeded team. Despite their best efforts and a valiant performance, they fell short, which pushed them into the battle for third place,” Lewis said.
Looking ahead, the team is eager to build on this momentum. The team aims for even greater achievements in the upcoming season which starts this month at Turfhall Stadium in Athlone.
