Century City Night Market has its own winter magic


As winter settles over Cape Town and cooler evenings return Intaka Island is once again preparing to welcome visitors to one of the city’s most loved seasonal traditions, the Century City Winter Night Market.

Running on the last Friday of every month from May to August, the popular market transforms Century City into a glowing winter escape filled with live music, gourmet comfort food, artisan stalls and a very cosy atmosphere.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Intaka Island’s nature reserve, the Winter Night Market has become known for its lantern-lit walkways, crackling fires, warming drinks and vibrant community atmosphere.

A feast for the senses

This year’s market promises a carefully curated mix of flavours and experiences – an impressive selection of street-food vendors, including Chiptastix, Wing!t, The Local Fix and Halibi Treats. The Truck Area will also serve up popular dishes from Rib Republic and Amigo Foods, and The Train Area will feature handcrafted products from Creation Novelties, Sampsons Biltong, Lin Family Eats, Inno’s Artisan Pizza and Wrap It Up.

At Intaka’s Activity Centre guests can indulge in everything from authentic paella and empanadas to dim sum, fudge, chocolates and freshly baked treats from vendors including S&J Dim Sum, Chocolat du Coeur, Krumble, Lily’s Fudge and Corrado’s.

Seafood lovers will be able to enjoy fresh oysters from Queen of Oysters, while the Wine Bar and various refreshment stalls offer a crisp winter’s warm-up.

More than just a market

The Winter Night Market also celebrates local creativity.

The Cube will showcase local designers and artisans including CM Stylist, Luna Wolf Collective, Pili Pili Sauvage and Koco and Design, an opportunity to browse unique fashion, accessories and handmade products.

Guests can also explore artisanal offerings from vendors such as Gorgeous Nuts, Vic’s Fragrance, Sushi Lover, Malika, Loutaya and Yan Coffe’n’Smoothies.

Soul sounds and serenades

For live entertainment guests can settle in from 16:00, with live performances from Grace de la Hunt and Sheldon de St Pern, soundtrack of a magical evening beneath the lights.

Whether gathering around heaters with friends and family or sipping wine under the stars, discovering local artisans, the market offers a unique winter experience.

Four special winter evenings

With only four Winter Night Markets organisers encourage visitors to make the most of the limited opportunity. They take place on:

  • Friday 30 May
  • Friday 27 June
  • Friday 25 July
  • Friday 29 August

The market runs from 16:00 to 21:00 at Intaka Island.
