Conwill Bowie, an actor from Belhar, began his career as a stuntman and henchman in the crime-action short film series Uncle Billy and later appeared in a minor role in the psychological thriller The Meeting.
Prominent
He is now set to display his skills in a more prominent role, Topcat in the highly anticipated action thriller Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing. Bowie’s television debut was marked by a humorous moment on a DStv talk show, in which he showcased his dancing abilities in a live broadcast promoting The Meeting, joined by the show’s presenters and cast.
Reflecting on his journey, Bowie expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had received in the entertainment industry, acknowledging its competitive nature. He was particularly surprised when cast as a henchman in Uncle Billy without an audition, which he described as a transformative experience, especially being on a military-helicopter set.
“In Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing the character I portray, Topcat, is an ex-convict still engaged in criminal activities, and filming his gang’s exploits, particularly involving a corrupt police captain, as well as a gunfight scene with talented drama students was exhilarating, as was the character’s graphic torture scene.”
Bowie’s young daughter, Skylar Murray, also makes her debut as the character “Beertjie”. Bowie is passionate about encouraging young people to embrace their talents. He aims to inspire teenagers in particular to contribute positively to their communities and engage in life-changing initiatives that uplift and motivate others.
Accident
He also reflected on a life-altering car accident he experienced a few years ago, describing it “near-death”, something that had transforming effects on his world view. It became a source of motivation, encouraging him to embrace risks and take leaps of faith. As a stuntman and actor Bowie also wished to inspire young fathers to persevere and strive for greatness.
The film Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, written and directed by Nic Matthee, is produced by Red Moon Performing Arts. It is set to premiere on Tubi TV and the company’s YouTube channel on 27 August 2026. The film also features actors Nadia Gouws, Justin Malgas, Tyrique Williams, Taz Lucas, Kesia Wrenn, Tyrese Links, Breyton Fortuin and drama students of Roosendaal Secondary School.
“My motivation centres on fostering positive change within our communities and challenging negative stereotypes. Once again, I believe it is crucial to focus on the academic and creative potential of our youth, as they possess immense capabilities and face limited opportunities. By nurturing their creativity and transforming visionary ideas into actionable steps we can create lasting, positive impacts that empower young individuals to turn the seemingly impossible into achievable goals.”
