The City of Cape Town is updating its Property Valuation Roll which will determine payments for rates and municipal services. Is your property valuation accurate? If not, your monthly rates and service charges could rise steeply.

Civic association Highbury Foundation invites property owners to a community engagement to clarify the City of Cape Town’s new 2025 General Valuation Roll on Thursday 23 April at 19:30 at the Educare Centre, Excelsior Street, Highbury.

Session

The session will cover how rates are determined and the 2025 valuation impact on your monthly bill, plus understanding the “Service and Wires” charges for electricity and municipal service charges based on your new rates.

In preparation for the engagement, residents are advised to request an online property report or approach a housing agent to understand their current valuation.

Attendees will learn how to dispute their new valuation and won’t miss the critical deadline of 30 April for objections. A real case study of a successful objection will also be presented.
