The South African Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Sairac) Cape Town Committee recently presented a substantial donation to Club21 Bellville, demonstrating the industry’s commitment to supporting local special-needs education.
The donation, which included approximately R43 000 in cash along with essential equipment such as a laptop, television and other classroom supplies, will directly benefit the small school that serves around six to seven children with Down syndrome.

The items were selected from Club21 Bellville’s wish list, ensuring the donations would have maximum impact on the centre’s educational capabilities. The financial contribution will be paid directly into the school’s account to support classroom expansion and accommodate more children.
Sairac’s annual charity fundraising initiative brought together partners, contractors and suppliers from the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry. The professional body, which has served South Africa’s environmental-control industry since 1951, selected Club21 Bellville as this year’s charity beneficiary.
The donation represents more than just financial assistance; it provides peace of mind to parents and teachers while raising awareness about the important work being done at the small specialised school.
Club21 Bellville, a Christian non-profit organisation, focuses exclusively on the education and development of people with Down syndrome, providing essential support to families in the community.

School principal Amanda Fourie and teacher Rayka Maruis expressed great happiness and gratitude about the donation.
The handover took place on Tuesday 24 March at the Tygerberg SDA Church.
