Special R20 train tickets on offer for soccer fans to see Bafana vs Panama.

Thousands of football fans heading to watch Bafana Bafana take on Panama later this month will be able to use special train services. The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) Western Cape has partnered with the South African Football Association (Safa) to provide transport options for the match.

The collaboration will offer train services and parking facilities for supporters attending the international friendly on Tuesday 31 March at DHL Cape Town Stadium.

Additional trains for match day

Prasa Western Cape will run extra train services to handle the expected influx of supporters. The People’s Train (Blue Train) will be deployed, featuring modern safety systems and providing transport to and from the stadium. Event train tickets cost R20, offering fans a budget-friendly alternative to driving while avoiding traffic congestion.

Park and ride options available

Supporters can park at secure, 24-hour monitored facilities along the Northern and Southern lines before connecting to the stadium by train. This system aims to reduce road congestion and improve safety around the venue.

Southern Line (Cape Town-Fish Hoek) parking is available at:

Kenilworth — public parking opposite the station

Heathfield — Prasa secure parking

Lakeside — Prasa secure parking

False Bay — Prasa secure parking

Fish Hoek — public parking opposite the station and at the beach

Northern Line parking locations include:

Strand, Eerste River, Kuils River, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Bellville, Tygerberg and Vasco stations.

Security measures in place

Prasa Western Cape protection services will work with law enforcement to boost security at all stations and parking areas. Officials advise supporters to arrive early to secure parking and allow enough travel time.

After the final whistle, additional trains will run to ensure fans can return home safely. Early arrival at stations after the match is recommended to avoid congestion.

Awareness campaigns planned

Leading up to the match, Prasa Western Cape and Safa will run public campaigns across the Western Cape promoting rail as the preferred transport option, highlighting the convenience, safety and affordability of train travel.
