Bellville detectives have made arrests and recovered property following a house robbery in Shirley Park after community members provided crucial video evidence through social media.
The house robbery occurred on Thursday 12 March 2026 at 14:30 in Shirley Park, Bellville. A community member captured suspects fleeing the scene on video and posted the footage on social media, which enabled the identification of suspects.
Bellville detectives followed up on the information from the video, resulting in arrests and the recovery of some property.
Bicycle-ownership verification needed by police
In a separate incident on 13 March 2026, Bellville detectives detained a suspect on the corner of Bill Bezuidenhout and Old Paarl Road. The suspect was found with a bicycle that had not been reported as stolen at the time of arrest.
