Metro Police officers confiscated cash from the suspect.

The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police arrested a man on drug-related charges on Monday 9 March in Parow .

Metro police spokesperson Supt Ruth Solomons said officers on patrol in the area spotted two men in a car in King Edward Street, whom they approached, and one of them got out dropped something and then kicked it underneath the vehicle before walking to a nearby shop.

“The officers apprehended the suspect and escorted him back to the vehicle, where they found a bag of tik underneath the car.”

The shop owner then informed the officers the suspect had thrown a set of keys behind the counter.

“Officers questioned the suspect and he pointed a second vehicle out to them, and there they found a bag of cash, containing three different currencies – rands, dollars and naira – totalling R40 000,” Solomons said.

The suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and was detained at Parow Police Station for further investigation.

Metro Police officers also confiscated tik in Parow.
