A man sustained a gunshot injury recently on a gravel road near Tygerberg Valley Road in the Burgundy Estate, Richwood and De Zicht areas.
District Watch, a private security company, responded to the emergency call.
The company’s officers were notified of a shooting incident around 07:08 on Friday 13 February in Tygerberg Valley Road. In their incident report they state back-up response units were dispatched and emergency services notified.
On their arrival at the scene they came across an adult male who had sustained a gunshot wound.
It is unclear if anything was taken from the victim, but the original complaint that came through to the company was that of an armed robbery, a spokesperson said. The suspect was armed and the victim subsequently shot.
The company’s officers secured the area and also provided support until the emergency services arrived.
Local neighbourhood-watch members and other role-players also attended the scene.
The Bothasig police took over the scene and ER24 transported the patient to a hospital after providing medical care.
