A fire in Bonteheuwel left families devastated
A fire left many Bonteheuwel families devastated.

Many Bonteheuwel families who were victims of devastating fire that swept through their homes and destroyed everything they owned now need the public’s assistance in rebuilding their lives.

Local ward councillor Angus McKenzie said he visited the scene and was shocked by the damage the fire caused. “Every single possession of theirs was consumed overnight. The circumstances surrounding the fire are known, but these are of no concern right now. What matters is that families are sitting on the pavement with nothing. No shelter, no basics and no certainty about tomorrow. This is one of those moments when our communities must make a difference.

Please assist

“I therefore appeal to every resident, business owner and anyone with a heart please to assist in rebuilding these families’ lives. No donation is too small.”

According to McKenzie the families needed clothing (all sizes), blankets and bedding, non-perishable food, toiletries, baby items (if possible), basic household items and any building materials.

“All donations can be arranged directly with Rahma Japtha at 081 481 3770. Physical donations can be delivered to 98 Assegaai Avenue, Bonteheuwel. Let us show once again that when tragedy strikes, Bonteheuwel stands together.”
