The police in Parow, Cape Town confirmed this week they were investigating the murder of a teenage male.
Col Deirdré Engelbrecht, Parow Police Station commander, said on Tuesday a murder docket had been opened and was being investigated. This follows the death of a 19-year-old.
Bronwin Daniels, chair of the Parow Community Policing Forum (CPF), confirmed the incident, that the forum was aware of the murder of a 19-year-old from Arena Court, a block of flats in Parow Park.
She said the victim’s body was discovered at the Parow Golf Course on Thursday. “We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that acts of violence have no place in our community.”
Daniels said the police were investigating, working diligently to identify and apprehend his alleged killers.
“We urge members of the community to remain calm and cooperate fully with the police by providing any information that may assist the investigation through the appropriate channels.
“On behalf of the Parow CPF we extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased at this extremely difficult time. Our thoughts are with them as they mourn this tragic loss.”
She said the forum appealed to the community to allow the investigation to take its course and refrain from speculation or spreading unverified information.
