An elderly couple was assaulted and robbed in their home at a complex in Vergesig, Durbanville early Tuesday morning, 3 February.
According to Capt FC van Wyk, provincial police spokesperson, the robbery took place at 04:00, leaving the Robinson Street house ransacked. “The perpetrators took two firearms, a laptop, cellular telephones and personal items.
“According to reports the complainant and his wife were sleeping when four unknown men, their faces covered, entered their bedroom. The complainant was assaulted and forced to lie face-down and his hands were tied behind his back.”
He said the perpetrators had forced the “back door” and security gate, located at the side of the house, open and “left the same way they came in.”
The complainant’s wife pressed the panic button after the men had left.
No arrests had yet been made yet, Van Wyk said. Anyone with any information on the incident was urgently requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application MySAPS.
