A building in Epping near Goodwood sustained extensive damages yesterday (Wednesday 10 December) after a fire broke out in the area.
Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services, said their services received the call on Wednesday 10 December at about 13:20 of a motor spares shop well alight in Epping Avenue.
He said numerous resources were called out to the scene including specialised vehicles and the IMT 4 team. “The fire was divided into two divisions to utilise the manpower optimally, and so the blaze was contained around 14:30,” Carelse said.
Franchesca Walker, ward councillor, told TygerBurger that she is aware of the fire in Epping Avenue as she was on the scene that day. “It is an illegal car parts business that was running their business outside of a yard. The business was destroyed. A house at the back was also partially damaged,” she said.
Three other structures were destroyed this week in a separate fire in Clarke’s Estate, Elsies River, Walker said.
