Nobody has been arrested for a double murder and attempted murder in Eerste River on Sunday.
Two men aged 20 and 25 were fatally wounded at around 08:10 in Warwick Crescent, Stratford Green. A 16-year-old boy was wounded and taken to a medical facility.
According to police spokesperson Seargent Wesley Twigg Kleinvlei police were called to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. “The 20 and 25 year old victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the 16-year-old victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment. According to reports the victims were standing in the road when a white vehicle drove up to them and one of the occupants of the vehicle opened fire on them before fleeing the scene. Murder and attempted murder cases were registered for investigation,” says Twigg.

SInce the shooting the police, together with other Law Enforcement agencies are in the affected area conducting crime prevention initiatives to combat gang violence and to stabilize and restore calm to the area. A Resident close to the area where the murder took place who spoke to TygerBurger on condition of anonymity out of fear, says they are scared for their lives every day. “You do not know who the next victim is going to be. It is unpredictable because today it is a gangster that is killed, tomorrow it is an innocent bystander. It is not a way of life to live like this,” says the source.
According to her residents can prepare for the worst, because every shooting is followed up by more shootings. “Retaliation is coming this festive season. We are stuck here in this warzaone,” she warns.
