One of the most iconic landmarks in Parow, the New National Hotel and Conference celebrates a significant milestone this year — 75 years of hospitality.
In a statement issued by the hotel recently, it said the 75th anniversary, marks over seven decades of great service, memorable stays, and a steadfast commitment to guests from around the world.
Since opening its doors in 1950, the New National Hotel has grown from a family-run establishment into a renowned three-star destination, offering modern comfort while preserving the warmth and personal touch that has defined its legacy.
The establishment is one of the last of the remaining Voortrekker Road hotels and has become a trusted choice for both business and leisure travellers seeking a seamless stay, the hotel said.
“Seventy-five years is not just a milestone, it is a story of people – our guests, our staff, and our community,” said Carl Burger, chief executive of Young and Vibrant SA Property.
He added: “We are proud of Parow’s history and excited about the future as we continue to innovate while staying true to our heritage of hospitality.”

Previously, known as a popular watering hole in the 1980s and 1990s, the property began its upgrade plan in 2016 and continues to plan new modern additions, such as the Duke Eatery, a popular restaurant for a business breakfast and great coffee.
Over the years, the hotel has become a gathering space for conferences, family celebrations, and cultural exchange. Its conference facilities, restaurant, and warm atmosphere continue to make it a cornerstone of the local community.
During the Covid-19 period, the owners decided to add an additional conference venue.
The Tygerberg Venue hosts 40 people in conference or training room set up. This in addition to is 100 seater Marcows Venue.
As part of the 75th anniversary celebrations, the hotel will host a series of special events and promotions throughout the final quarter of 2025, thanking loyal guests and welcoming new visitors to experience its unique blend of tradition and modernity.
“We look forward to the next chapter of our journey,” added Kesiah Engelbrecht, operations manager.
