A tip-off to the police recently led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer in Bothasig.
Mario Borchards, chair of the Bothasig Community Policing Forum (CPF), welcomed the successful arrests by the Bothasig police. According to him, members of the Bothasig police received information regarding a suspected drug dealer from Table View en route to Bothasig to deliver drugs.
“The vehicle, described as a silver VW Polo sedan, was spotted by police in Cloete Street. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of suspected drugs concealed in a black bag,” Borchards says.
The suspect, a 44-year-old foreign national, was arrested immediately and charged with dealing in drugs. The arrest was made on Tuesday 23 September at 23:10.
The police confiscated 10 sachets containing tik, eight sachets containing Mandrax tablets and 25 sachets containing heroin with an estimated street value of R3 000.
The CPF says it commends the police for their excellent work and has noted the improvement in policing since the deployment of extra officers. “The CPF remains committed to maintaining a strong working relationship with the police in the ongoing fight against drugs and crime in our community,” Borchards says.
