For nearly five decades, the familiar corner of One Stop Superette in Oakdale, Bellville, was more than just a shop. It was a place of comfort, a meeting point, and a home away from home for so many in our community.

As the doors prepare to close on Tuesday 30 September, we pause to celebrate the legacy of a store that gave us far more than groceries.

Brothers Antonio and José Farintta poured their hearts into One Stop, building not just a business, but a family. Together with their loyal cashiers – Helen Stalmeester, Mary Gouws, Honey Daniels, and Marvin Stalmeester – they welcomed customers with warmth and kindness that left a lasting impression. Walking into One Stop was never just about what you needed to buy – it was about the friendly conversations, the familiar faces, and the sense of belonging.

Beyond their shelves, the Farintta family showed extraordinary generosity. They gave back selflessly, supporting Chere Botha School, Laerskool Bellville-Noord, Laerskool Bellpark, Oakdale Watch, NG Kerk Bellville Vallei, and Chrisma Villas old age home. Their contributions uplifted countless lives and proved that One Stop was not just in Oakdale, but truly for Oakdale.

As One Stop Superette closes its doors after 47 proud years, Oakdale Watch and the community extend heartfelt thanks. Thank you for every smile, every gesture of kindness, every friendship, and every memory. You were part of our daily lives, part of our celebrations, and part of our story.

One Stop Superette may be closing, but the love and legacy you leave behind will forever remain. You were not just a shop – you were a treasure, a friend, and a cornerstone of Oakdale. From all of us: thank you, and farewell. Oakdale will never forget you.
