A significant breakthrough has been made in the investigation into a double murder that rocked the Wallacedene area of Kraaifontein in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A 26-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court today (16 September) in connection with the murder.
The suspect was initially taken in for questioning by detectives from the SAPS Serious Violent Crime Unit on Sunday evening. He was formally charged on Monday.
“As the investigation gains momentum, it is envisaged that all the cases registered will be solved in due course.”
Police have confirmed that investigations into a string of related incidents, which left three more men dead, one man injured, and a woman raped remain ongoing.
“Investigations into the other shooting incidents that left three men dead, one injured, and a woman raped early on Sunday continue, with Serious Violent Crime detectives hard at work. As the investigation gains momentum, it is envisaged that all the cases registered will be solved in due course,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa.
Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the ongoing investigations.
