crime scene tape
Police confirm natural death after body discovered in Mitchells Plain shack.

Multiple shots near a primary school left residents fearful yesterday morning.

Reports on crime watch groups said multiple gunshots had been fired in Beacon Valley, which has seen a surge in gang activity in recent months.

A voice note by a woman followed shortly on the chat. The woman fearfully begged for “someone to send out a van” to Cricket Street where the shots had been fired.

Minutes later additional reports said a man had been shot dead in front of Imperial Primary School, but Mitchell’s Plain Police Station commander Brig Brian Muller said this was false.

“I can confirm there was a shooting incident in Cricket Street, but nobody was shot,” he said. “My members are following up on information received on the scene.”

On the same chat group residents claimed shots had been fired outside Princeton High School.

Sgt Wesley Twigg, media liaison officer at the police’s provincial office, said this was also false.

“Lentegeur police attended to a complaint of a shooting at a school in Mitchell’s Plain,” he said, “but no shooting incident occurred in or around the school.”
