Two people were killed and three others seriously injured in a crash on the N2 in Grabouw on Tuesday, 29 September.
Grabouw police have registered a culpable homicide case following the accident. This was confirmed by Constable Ndakhe Gwala, Media Liaison Officer of provincial police, who spoke to Hermanus Times.
Unconfirmed reports believe that the two deceased were parents to a daughter who was seriously injured in the same accident.
The crash occurred on the N2 in Grabouw with two people sustaining fatal injuries. Three others were seriously injured in the incident and were rushed to the nearest medical facility.
Gwala confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the event are currently under investigation. And the course of the accident has not yet been determined.
Authorities have not provided further details around the identities of those who died in or the three people who were seriously injured.
The incident comes as road safety remains a significant concern on the N2, a major route through the Western Cape.
Motorists travelling on the route are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant. This is important, particularly around areas where traffic conditions can change quickly. Police have not indicated whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
