HUMANSDORP – Swift and coordinated action by members of the Humansdorp K9 Unit, Gqeberha K9 Unit, and the Gqeberha Flying Squad led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a hijacked vehicle in Humansdorp on 13 April.
According to police spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy, the green Chevrolet Spark was intercepted on Voortrekker Road after being spotted travelling on the R102 in Humansdorp around 22:00.
He said that the vehicle had been flagged shortly after an elderly woman was hijacked in Bethelsdorp, Gqeberha, on 13 April.
“The two occupants, aged between 30 and 36, were immediately arrested for carjacking and possession of suspected stolen property. The vehicle was confiscated,” said McCarthy.
He further said that the suspects are expected to appear before the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on charges of carjacking and possession of a hijacked vehicle.
The Acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Colonel Henry Leslie, commended the members for their swift action.
“Your unwavering commitment and loyalty to protecting our communities do not go unnoticed,” said Leslie.
