Emir Khan, from Highbury and a learner at Kuils River Primary School, recently represented South Africa at the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) Junior World Series held in Atterbury, Pretoria. The other countries that competed were England, New Zealand, Australia, India, Sri Lanka and Singapore.
Emir was the only player from Western Province selected for the SA u-13 team. The u-13s finished second, winning the silver medal after losing to Australia in the final. Emir’s highlight of the tournament was captaining the SA team in two matches.
Earlier in the year, Emir was chosen as the u-14 Best Batsman at the provincial indoor tournament held in April. The Western Province team finished second in the u-14 category.
