Nine Reddam House Constantia learners earn Western Province hockey selection

Nine learners from Reddam House Constantia have earned places in Western Province hockey teams after impressing at this season’s provincial trials. As a result, the learners will compete against South Africa’s top young players at upcoming interprovincial tournaments. They secured provincial selection across the u-14, u-16 and u-18 age groups.

Learners selected across three age groups

Emma Hibbert secured a place in the Western Province u-18A girls’ team. Cassidy Frank and Sally Gitlin will represent the u-18B girls’ side, while Kieran Solomon earned selection for the u-18B boys’ team. At u-16 level, Courtney Thomas and Tammah Luck joined the Western Province u-16A girls’ team. Additionally, Salma Jacobs earned selection for the u-16B girls’ side.

Emily Hougaard and Dhiya Ramnarayan complete the list after earning places in the Western Province u-14 South girls’ team.

Interprovincial tournaments

The u-18 interprovincial tournament took place in Hilton, KwaZulu-Natal, from Sunday 29 June to Friday 4 July. Meanwhile, the u-14 regional tournament followed in Paarl from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4 July. The u-16 tournament returned to Hilton from Monday 7 to Saturday 12 July.

School celebrates achievement

Executive Head Alex Gitlin says the selections recognise the learners’ hard work throughout the season.

“To earn provincial colours is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication, discipline and perseverance these students have shown throughout the season. We are incredibly proud of each of them and look forward to seeing them represent Western Province with distinction.”

Gitlin says the achievement also highlights the commitment of the school’s coaching staff.

“Their selections are a testament not only to their talent, but also to the commitment they and their coaches bring to their sport and their team.
