Wynberg Rotary’s long-running baby clothing drive is continuing with renewed energy this festive season, supported by one of its partner schools. The Wynberg Rotary baby clothing drive has become a crucial effort in the community.
The club collects baby clothes throughout the year and distributes them to organisations and families supporting infants and young children across the Southern Suburbs. This initiative, known as the Wynberg Rotary baby clothing drive, is a key highlight of their annual activities.
School partnership strengthens outreach
This year, the Norman Henshilwood Interact Club joined the initiative.
Bonita Daniels and Nawaal Luddy are leading the school’s involvement. They will use the donated clothing from the Wynberg Rotary baby clothing drive in holiday outreach programmes.
These programmes support young mothers, community shelters and neighbourhood initiatives assisting vulnerable families.
Rotary and Interact, a shared legacy
Wynberg Rotary says the collaboration highlights the strong relationship between Rotary and Interact.
Rotary founded Interact in 1962 to empower teenagers through leadership, service and community upliftment. More than six decades later, the partnership continues to thrive in Cape Town schools, strengthening efforts like the Wynberg Rotary baby clothing drive.
According to a club statement, Interact members bring energy and commitment to every project. Teachers and school staff provide guidance and support.
The club says young people help keep service projects relevant and community-driven. Pupils identify needs and help shape responses.
Baby clothing project continues to grow
The baby clothing project has expanded steadily over the years.
Rotary members collect new and gently used items from the public. They sort donations and distribute them to approved beneficiaries as part of their ongoing Wynberg Rotary baby clothing drive.
Wynberg Rotary says small acts of giving often have a wide impact. This is especially true during the festive season, when many families face financial pressure.
Encouraging young leaders
The partnership with Norman Henshilwood forms part of several school collaborations.
Interact groups across the Southern Suburbs regularly join Rotary projects. These include food drives and community clean-ups.
Wynberg Rotary says it remains encouraged by young volunteers who consistently give their time.
The club believes early exposure to service builds a strong culture of care, responsibility and community participation.
