Two men were found guilty on charges of house robbery and copper theft in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court the past week.
Paarl police spokesperson Capt Louise du Plessis detailed the first case related to house robbery and the theft of a motor vehicle in the Southern Paarl area.
“After a full investigation into the events of a house robbery on 23 April on a farm in the De Poort area, Hein September was found guilty.
“He was sentenced to six years direct imprisonment for house robbery and 15 years of which three years have been suspended for five years for the theft of motor vehicle.”
In an unrelated case, Louis Terblanche (37) of Paarl East was sentenced to six years imprisonment for the possession of copper cables and tampering with infrastructure under the CCMA Act on 26 July 2022.
“This follows after his arrest in Jan van Riebeek Road on 13 September last year. He was arrested by Paarl police after tampering, damaging and destroying municipal property by removing copper cables from a light post in the area,” Du Plessis said.
