Some of Paarl police’s investigating officers’ hard work has finally paid off this week, following the sentencing of three criminals in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court.

“An accused, Malcolm Carelse (24), received a 12-year sentence of which four have been suspended for a period of five years,” said spokesperson, Capt Louise du Plessis.

The suspect was sentenced for a business robbery at a local café in the Main Road, Paarl North, during September 2020.

“Two accused, Bronwyn Dreyer (25) and Francois Klaasen (30), each received a 12-year sentence, four of which have been suspended for a period of five years, and a further two years, of which one has been suspended for aggravated robbery and burglary,” Du Plessis said.

She said the two were responsible for various burglaries and robberies from March to April 2018 within the Paarl and Jan Philips Plein Mountain Pass areas.
