As a senior English teacher I am shocked with the municipality’s unsightly billboard and slogan in Cecilia Street, Paarl. I just find it so tacky and to think how many folk must have approved it before it went up. The “bucket system” at so many schools is still a big issue here at several rural schools. I know what I think of when I read about “a bucket of…..”! That’s inept officialdom for you. I suspect it is a careless translation from Afrikaans to English, not to mention the sign’s intrusiveness, environmental crassness and apparent poor artistic taste.
