A 17-year-old learner of Ihlumelo Secondary School has been traumatised after she was allegedly gang-raped by a teaching assistant and another man at school in October last year.
The 24-year-old suspect was arrested on 25 January. It is not clear whether the victim laid the rape charges right after the incident, or if the case was recently opened.
According to information the teaching assistant grabbed the learner while in the bathroom. The victim was then held down by another man while he sexually assaulted her.
The unknown man sexually assaulted her afterwards.
The 24-year-old teaching assistant appeared in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court yesterday for bail application. The victim is unable to identify the second suspect.
