The female driver of the motor vehicle that was involved in the taxi collision allegedly sustained a broken arm.

A taxi collided head-on with a motor vehicle in Oosbosch Street, Paarl, on Wednesday around noon after which two patients were transported to hospital, leaving multiple passengers injured.

“The taxi driver was transported to hospital after he was removed from the wreck with Jaws of Life. The female driver from the other vehicle involved in the accident sustained a broken arm on first inspection. There were 16 passengers in the taxi, of which the youngest is an 11-year-old child,” Capt Louise du Plessis, spokesperson for Paarl police, reported.

Du Plessis said she arrived at the scene shortly after the vehicles collided near the Kaap Agri offices in Paarl. “Multiple patients were treated on the scene. The circumstances that led to the accident are still being investigated.”

She added that no fatalities were reported and that two patients were transported to different hospitals by ambulance services.

An enquiry was sent to Western Cape Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for an official accident report.
