Paarl Mall has commenced a major expansion set to bring more choice, more space and an elevated retail experience to the heart of the community. The mall has been an integral part of Paarl for 20 years, and its next phase of growth is the result of meticulous planning and reflects a deep commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Paarl’s people and Paarl Mall’s loyal shoppers. The redevelopment is set to be delivered with passion, precision and minimal disruption

The expansion will introduce new and bigger retail offerings, including a sought-after international fashion brand making its debut in Paarl, the name of which will be announced in due course.

Among the new stores shoppers can look forward to are Cielo, with its stylish range of contemporary furniture, as well as a beautifullydesigned new Wordsworth store for book lovers. There’s much more to come and more details will be announced as the project progresses.

Several established favourites, including Truworths, Foschini, @home, Sportscene and Identity, are increasing the size of their stores, updating their concepts and offering more ranges and a wider variety of products to their Paarl Mall shoppers.

The new brands and resized stores together form part of a broader strategy to strengthen the tenant mix and ensure Paarl Mall continues to meet and exceed the expectations of its growing and diverse shopper base.

In addition to boosting the retail offering, the redevelopment will also elevate the overall experience for shoppers with an internal reconfiguration. The mall’s new internal layout will enable better access and circulation.

A highlight is the addition of a beautiful, striking new entrance to the mall, making it easier to enter and navigate the centre, improving the flow around the mall. All-in-all, the new layout will create a more convenient and enjoyable shopping experience.

Retail is all about the detail, and the upgrade of Paarl Mall pays attention to every customer touchpoint.

Think refreshed interiors with heritage-inspired finishes, updated tiling and lighting, elegant bulkheads, modern bathroom facilities and upgraded amenities – all designed to enhance comfort, inspire a great experience and retain the character that shoppers know, love and trust.

Importantly, the redevelopment is expected to deliver meaningful local economic benefits. The construction phase will create employment opportunities, with a strong focus on using local contractors and service providers wherever possible.

Materials and services will be sourced locally where feasible, supporting businesses in the Paarl and wider Boland region and ensuring the project contributes positively to the local economy.

All this means some temporary store relocations will be needed to accommodate construction. We’d like to assure customers that these changes have been carefully planned and will be communicated clearly and timeously to shoppers via Paarl Mall’s social media platforms and in-centre communication.

“As a centre that has served this community for over 20 years, it was important that we took the time to listen, plan and evolve thoughtfully,” the Centre Manager Roslynn Children says.

“This development is about growing with our shoppers, supporting our retailers and bringing new, world-class retail experiences to Paarl.”

Paarl Mall is owned and managed by Growthpoint Properties, which is investing R270 million in its redevelopment, reflecting a long-term commitment to Paarl, its retailers and its community.

The initiative is a proactive response to changing retail needs, focused on doing the right thing for shoppers while creating a centre positioned for sustainable success.

The project commenced in mid-January and is scheduled for completion by November, in time to mark Paarl Mall’s 21st birthday. Visitors are invited to view artists’ impressions displayed in the Centre and follow the progress of Paarl Mall as it takes shape — with more exciting announcements still to come.
