David Kramer, patron of Eseltjiesrus, and his donkey friend hope you will visit the Book Fair.

Thousands of brand-new and hand-selected pre-owned books at bargain prices await book lovers for the 16th year at the Eseltjiesrus Book Fair.

The biggest book sale in the Western Cape takes place from Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th June in the spacious Oos-kerk Hall in van Zyl Street, Robertson. To make it even more special, every book sold supports the care of abused, neglected and elderly donkeys at Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary just outside McGregor.

Every reading taste is catered for. Whether it is fiction, gardening, aviation, history, cooking, travel or children’s books – you name it and it is there!

A hugely popular section every year is the Special Collection area with literally hundreds of rare or unusual books. And again the variety is alluring: books and collected works by Churchill, Smuts, Langenhoven, Lawrence Green, an extensive poetry collection and 100-year old and even 200-year old volumes – and more.

Definitely not your average book sale!

David Kramer, patron of Eseltjiesrus, has created the song “Donkiehemel”: simply type David Kramer Donkiehemel on YouTube and see how the proceeds of the Book Fair will be used.
