Recently Wilfred van Wyk (right) received his Certificate of Appreciation for his excellent service to Drakenstein Municipality for over 30 years. Van Wyk, or “Hoppie” as he is known by many in the municipality, started working as a meter reader. Today he is an office assistant at the Integrated Development Plan Division of the municipality, but his scope of work reaches far beyond the office walls as he tackles each task with passion and dedication, and assists in any way he can to serve the community of Drakenstein. It is for this reason that Hoppie has been renamed by staff as “The City Manager of Wellington”. Photographed with Hoppie is Cindy September, Manager: Integrated Development Plan Division and the City Manager of Drakenstein Municipality, Dr Johan Leibbrandt.Foto:
