I am challenging the honourable Mayor of the valley to take a drive down Paarl Main Road in peak-hour traffic – ie school drop-off times and then again around 16:30 to 17:00.
It is absolute chaos on this historic road. Sometimes the traffic is backed up from the Strooidakkerk until the KWV.
Also, it is hugely backed-up from the Lady Grey Street turn-off into Main Road north, right up to Optenhorst Street.
Does the municipality at all monitor this situation and is it putting plans in place to better regulate traffic in Paarl?
To the public I appeal, whenever possible, to use the Boulevard. Many mommies pick their kids up at schools in town and then drive via Main Road through to Paarl north or south, when they could actually use the quicker Boulevard.
