In 2017 the Paarl Trails team started with a humble vision – to transform the region into a world-class adventure destination. After the construction of their first trails at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate in Paarl North the team has expanded their network to nearly 200 km of routes on and around Paarl Mountain, making it one of the biggest trail networks in the country.

Their efforts have been a remarkable journey, powered by the support and belief of landowners, Drakenstein Municipality, and the community. The passion and hard work of all involved have made it possible to build, maintain and expand an extensive trail network, which has not only benefited outdoor enthusiasts, but also the region as a whole.

Paarl Trails has transformed into an amazing community-focused project, with the following initiatives:. 2024 Trail Access Memberships. www.PaarlTrails.com. Paarl Trails. Visiting and supporting Paarl trails

The trails are accessible every day from sunrise to sunset for registered users. There is a charge for trail access, and all proceeds from day passes and yearly memberships go directly towards running the project.

Maintaining the trails and running various programmes incurs substantial costs each month, and the income generated from passes and memberships plays a vital role in keeping everything running smoothly. Using the trails without a pass or membership not only poses security and access risks but also directly impacts the programme’s sustainability.

As a South African safety is a top priority, especially when enjoying outdoor activities such as riding, running or walking on trails. To keep our trails safer we collaborate with trail builders, marshals and landowners to keep a eye out for any suspicious activity.

But we have gone one step further by designing a cutting-edge safety tool. Our BOT, managed in conjunction with ER24 and local emergency services, allows users to report emergencies, ranging from safety and emergency situations to fires and trail maintenance.

With just a press of a button, the tool sends the user’s details, GPS location, and issue description to a group of on-call staff who promptly assist or activate the necessary professionals to attend to the report.

To activate this service, save the number 071 157 5976 on your phone and send a WhatsApp message just saying “hi” to the number. You’ll receive access to an interactive system for
