Good news for all talented young sports stars in the Drakenstein Valley is that Paarl Post’s School Sports Star of the Year competition is in full swing.
This competition runs from March to October, during which two young sports stars – one in high school and one in primary school – will be selected as monthly winners by our panel of judges.
The competition is therefore open to all young sportsmen and women who have represented their region, province or country in their respective sports codes.
Previous winners of the competition include Olympic athlete Vuyo Manyonga and Springbok rugby star Handré Pollard.
Schools, coaches, teachers, parents and clubs may nominate their stars.
Nominations with a brief motivation on why someone is nominated for this award, plus a photo, can be e-mailed to Lise Beyers at sport@paarlpost.co.za. Alternatively, nominations can be collected from the office at 1A New Street (next to the Virgin Active Gymnasium).
The monthly winners will appear in Paarl Post and each will receive a gift package. A gala event will be held at the end of the year, when the overall winners as well as the most popular winner will be announced. Contact Beyers on 079 516 6941 or send an email to sport@paarlpost.co.za.
