On 26 June (International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking), the Department of Social Development, Paarl, in collaboration with Drakenstein Municipality, Badisa Wellington and Child Welfare Wellington, implemented a substance abuse awareness programme. It started with a march in the Voordorp area with the aim of creating awareness around substance abuse. After the march a programme was presented regarding available services for people and families struggling with substance abuse. The theme of this year’s campaign is people first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention”.
