National and local authorities have launched a nationwide manhunt for the suspects that shot and killed three men in Mbekweni on Sunday.

In this widely reported incident, organised-crime detectives were called to the scene in which the dead bodies were found with multiple gunshot wounds in a car and a shack on the same property, says police spokesperson Novela Potelwa.

Spokesperson for Mbekweni police, WO Nceba Vanqa, confirmed the incident and said the victims are aged 30, 33 and 40.

“Police received a complaint of a shooting at Sakhelwe Street, Dube Village in Mbekweni. On arrival they found the bodies of three Zimbabwean males with gunshot wounds, that showed no signs of life.

“The suspects are still unknown at this stage, however, we urge anyone with information to report it to police.”

This is the third incident in which the discovery of bodies of murder victims have been reported to police in Mbekweni in a matter of months.

A murder scene reported in June revealed the beaten, lifeless bodies of a woman and a man later recognised as Leonie Jesmine Arendse and a Mozambican, known as Kiddo.

Their bodies were dumped in the stormwater drain between Ring Road and Project 3 in Mbekweni.

In an unrelated incident, an unknown woman’s body was found underneath a bridge on Jan van Riebeeck Drive, Mbekweni, on 30 May.

Her body was found stripped half naked, which caused police to suspect that she might have been raped before being murdered.

To date, no post mortem results related to any one of these incidents have been released by Mbekweni police.
