Dirtopia celebrates Leap Year with a Trail Run, Full Moon Hike and Night Fun Run!
See the full moon rise over Simonsberg, when the sun is setting between Table Mountain and Lions Head this Friday, 23 February. Book tickets online to meet at Dirtopia Trail Centre on the Muratie Wine Estate, between 17:30 and 18:30, to start your hike to the new look-out point on the mountain. A wine station will be ready to serve Muratie’s MCC, cold Dry Rose, Sauvignon Blanc and Blended Red. Only a 3,5 km total loop makes it family-friendly, but make sure you wear good shoes, as there are more than 200 steps on the trail. Pack your snacks, water and cooldrink along with your picnic blanket in a backpack, remember a torch and jacket, so you are well prepared for an adventurous evening.

Stellenbosch offers so many trails to outdoor enthusiasts, and the Dirtopia team has built beautiful singletrack on Morgenhof Estate as well. Run a 7 km or 11 km here on Sunday 25 February, as the Pop-up Collective market is also taking place from 10:00. The Leap Year Trail Run is presented by Sportsmans Warehouse, with great prizes to top finishers, lucky draws for all and special event medals for the first 250 entries. February has an “extra” day in 2024 and just for fun, trail runners can do a specially marked 7,5 km route from Muratie at dusk on 29 February. Starting from 18:30 for only R100 pre-entry with lucky draws and refreshments. The Leap Day night run is limited, so enter now.
