Larries science learners excel at Eskom Expo

La Rochelle Girls’ High learners entered 19 projects at the recent Regional Eskom Expo for young scientists. La Rochelle won a total of 17 medals: three gold, 11 silver and three bronze medals. Wené du Toit, a Gr 10 learner and gold medallist, was selected to represent the region at the National Expo. She studied the health benefits of a Portulacaria Afra (“spekboom”) diet. She proved that a cup of this plant per day can improve a person’s blood pressure and sugar levels.
