Toast the Easter Weekend with Muratie wines, while enjoying your picnic with views of the Cape! A circular hiking trail has been constructed by Dirtopia from the Trail Centre at Muratie wine farm near Stellenbosch, to a viewpoint with spectacular views of the Winelands and Table Mountain in the distance. Book tickets online for Thursday 14 April and get an Easter Egg on arrival to help you with an approximate 30-minute walk to the wine station. Sunset is scheduled for around 18:15 and although the moon to rise at 17:23, it will lift above Simonsberg just as the sun is setting by approximately 18:15.

There are signs along the singletrack route that is approximately 3.5 km total, and it can take hikers up to 45 minutes to reach the picnic spot, so do not arrive later than 17:45 to ensure that you have the full experience. The adventure continues when hikers walk back through the forest with headlamps. Only 20 to 30 minutes to walk back to the Trail Centre at Muratie after sunset.

Bring a blanket to sit on while you wait for the sunset / moon rise under the watchful eye of the Simonsberg mountain. The look-out point is called Gilloolys where you can enjoy your own packed picnic and wine from Muratie that are sold per glass or per bottle at the wine station here. Snacks & drinks for sale at the Trail Centre where you collect your permit on arrival. Coffee station will be open at the start and finish point until 20:30
