Kyle Corbellari (14), from Paarl Boys’ High, achieved a gold medal in his division at the KSA Bloemfontein League 1 Karate Championships that took place 23–24 April. Kyle’s selection for the team kumite for juniors at the young age of 14 was a great achievement. The Western Cape team achieved a bronze medal. Kyle was furthermore confirmed as the number 1 karateka in the final KSA Protea team and will take part in the UFAK Region South competition to be held at the Durban ICC Centre against Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi from 28 to 30 May this year.
