I think there are many local economists and businessmen who can prove that the municipality is talking absolute nonsense when they claim that our electricity tariffs for industries are significantly less than those of Cape Town and “compare very well with the average when compared to surrounding municipalities”.
As a business owner in Huguenot in regular touch with neighbouring businesses, Drakenstein electrical tariffs are starving our enterprises of oxygen. Already, many businesses have left the area and actually are accommodated in surrounding areas of Cape Town with much better tariffs.
The powers that be can just drive around Paarl and Wellington’s once-lucrative industrial areas and see for themselves how many empty factories there are.
