The mentorship & bursary fund of House Andrew Murray (HAM) Child & Youth Care Centre in Wellington was strengthened at a black-tie dinner and auction.
The event, held on Saturday 8 June in the Franschhoek Cellar in Franschhoek on the theme “Great Gatsby” included stories of hope told by successful students during the past few years.
House Andrew Murray (HAM) Child & Youth Care Centre, a programme of Badisa, is a registered non-profit organisation that cares for 155 children (aged 1-18 years old) on a daily basis.
These children had been orphaned or placed in a place of safety by the court. and the home fully caters for their spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, social, psychological needs, for which it is dependent on assistance from the community.
A special thank you was expressed to all the corporates who supported the home.
Franschhoek Cellar MCC Brut Royal/Old Road Wine Co Gorgeous was served as a welcome drink to guests. Mario’s Entertainment provided background saxophone jazz music. A very sophisticated three course meal with wine pairing was served to the guests with coffee and rum balls afterwards. Master of ceremonies, Rodger Adams kept the crowd entertained, Shawn van Jaarsveld facilitated the auction and Adriaan Beukes of Spectrum Sound was excellent with sound.
Stephan Spies, HAM’s board member and Marketing Executive was the guest speaker who spoke on the theme “Dare to Free, visions unseen/Geroep om te streef na moontlike drome” and Christelle Oosthuizen, Professional Services Manager, introduced the two successful students who shared their stories of hope.
