Cure Day Hospitals lives out their “C” for Compassion in their Cure values, and proudly participate yearly in various community initiatives for Mandela Day.

The theme for Mandela Day this year was “The legacy lives through you” and that is just what the Cure Day team did with a large scale school shoe donation drive across all provinces,” said Liezl Muller Marketing Manager for Cure Day Hospitals.

“We are not only contributing to our learners in need of school shoes, but are helping our planet by recycling various used plastic items into school shoes, that would ordinarily be discarded as waste.”

With this initiative Cure Paarl donated 232 pairs of shoes to Bergendal Primary School in Suid-Agter-Paarl last week.

Supporting doctors from Cure Paarl: Drs Stallmann, Lourens, Nieder-Heitmann, Rousseau, Schwabe and Annenberg property group gave a financial contribution to purchase the shoes. Cure Day also donated much-needed toiletries to the higher-grade learners such as deodorant and sanitary pads.

“We understand the challenges faced by girls and women in accessing sanitary products,” said Muller. “Our aim was to empower girls and women, enabling them to pursue their education without interruption.

“We realise the importance of education and the need for learners to be equipped to learn, especially with a basic need like the comfort of school shoes. Our dream was to provide as many school shoes as possible to children in need countrywide and we achieved this with generous donations from our doctors and Annenberg properties.”
