The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) and the Drakenstein Municipality celebrated Global Handwashing Day at Langabuya Primary School in Mbekweni on 19 October. Global Handwashing Day is celebrated worldwide on 15 October to increase awareness of the importance of washing hands with soap and water to stop the spread of illnesses such as cholera. The department and the municipality demonstrated the six-step method of washing hands with soap and water while conserving water.
