The Frank Pietersen Music Centre will host its annual gala concert in the hall of Noord-Eind Primary School on Wednesday 27 September at 19:00

The Drakenstein community will once again be able to witness a showcase of musical talent performed by learners ranging from as young as 9 years old to our adults in the choir.

This year we once again feature our budding youngsters, the Junior String and Percussion Ensemble with a calypso and a fun piece called “Surfin’ Penguins”, and the Junior Wind Ensemble with two fun pieces. Our Intermediate String Ensemble is going to treat the audience to the moving “Gabriel’s Oboe”, which was written for the famous film The Mission and “I wanna be like you” from The Jungle Book.

The school’s Senior Ensembles have been doing very well this year. The Senior Strings, who received cum laude, won the award for overall Best Open Orchestra at the recent Paarl Valley Eisteddfod, will perform “Libertango” and “Oblivion” by Piazzolla. Our Senior Windband has come a long way since being taken over by Cameron Hoffmeester in 2022. They received cum laude awards at the Windworx Fanfare as well as the Paarl Valley Eisteddfod, and have performed at various events this year. They will perform “Captain America”, “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” and others. A very exciting item will be the Senior Percussion Ensemble with formidable percussionists, Kyrah Adams, Caleb Dlamini and Hannah Purchase.

Tickets for this concert are R60 adults and R30 for pensioners and children, which can be bought at the

Soup and coffee sales are available before the concert.
