For the first time in the history of Paarl a “street boeka” was held. As Muslims are nearing the end of the holy month of fasting (Ramadan), they came together on Saturday evening to enjoy a mass Iftar (the evening meal when the fast ends) in Play Street. Boeka is the Cape Muslim reference to Iftar. At the street boeka the food were laid out on plastic and paper, and everyone could join. The organisers are the Paarl Islamic Youth Movement, Paarl Muslim Jamaa’ and Riwa.
