Since 1996, the Paarl Valley Eisteddfod (PVE) has created a platform for learners to develop and display their talent via dance, drama, visual art and music.

Schools, private institutions or individuals affiliate on an annual basis and educators enter learners to participate across the various categories. For the past two years, due to Covid-19, many adjustments were made to continue the Eisteddfod, such as hosting the 2021 Virtual Eisteddfod, where more than 2 000 learners were adjudicated and certificates issued to individuals or groups. An Arts Festival was broadcast on Paarl FM in December 2021 featuring the top achievers.

Gail Jacobs, chairperson of the PVE, applauded the heads of schools and institutions, conveners, educators, parents and others for giving of their time and effort to support the learners. She said PVE is also grateful to Juan Benjamin, director of the Cape Winelands Education District, and his team for the ongoing collaboration in arts development.

“We look forward to the continuation of what the PVE subscribes to; working together to promote and enhance the various art forms as we strive to build social cohesion and cross-cultural relations.”

Affiliation for the art season is open and closes on 20 February. Institutions and private persons may affiliate online, at www.paarlvalleyeisteddfod.co.za or by requesting a form from Glenda Hartel via pve@zamail.co.za. On receipt of proof of payment, the 2022 Syllabus will be made available containing the information of the various categories and entry forms. Entries for all categories open on 23 February.
