Last week the Drakenstein Municipality’s Law Enforcement division confiscated 172,5 kg of stolen copper cables, valued at nearly R27 000, in Wellington.
Acting on a tip-off, they pursued a suspicious-looking vehicle in Blignaut Street, Wellington and eventually brought it to a halt in Champagne Street.
After receiving permission to search the vehicle they uncovered bags filled with copper cables and other ferrous metals.
The Wellington police arrived on the scene soon afterwards and arrested two male suspects.
A case of possession of stolen goods was expected to be made against the suspects.
